KYC OCR Rejection Loop

"Information Mismatch" is the most frustrating error in the TikTok Seller Center. Legitimate merchants often find themselves stuck in a loop where valid IRS documents are rejected by automated OCR bots. To break the loop, you must align your digital entity metadata.

"In Q1 2026, TikTok's identity verification API increased its character-match sensitivity to 99.8%. Data indicates that over 60% of rejections are caused by punctuation discrepancies between the IRS database and the Seller Center entry, rather than document illegitimacy."

1. The Logic of the OCR Character Match

When you upload an IRS CP575 or 147C letter, ByteDance's Optical Character Recognition (OCR) scanner extracts every character. If your IRS letter says "Company Name, LLC" and you typed "Company Name LLC" in the Seller Center (missing the comma), the bot triggers an automatic "Mismatch" rejection. The system does not allow for human-level interpretation; it requires a 1:1 character-map match.

2. The Edge Aliasing Problem

Digital document quality is critical. High-resolution photos taken with a smartphone often create "Edge Noise" or aliasing that the OCR bot interprets as digital tampering. To pass, documents must be scanned as flat PDFs with metadata stripped of "Edit History" tags that could signal forgery to the AI.

3. Cross-Entity Alignment Protocol

Successful verification requires aligning three distinct data pillars:

  • Legal Entity: The exact name and address on your IRS tax records.
  • Financial Entity: The character-match on your bank account statement (must mirror the IRS doc).
  • Merchant Entity: The profile data entered into TikTok Seller Center.
