Category Whitelisting Guide

Unlocking restricted TikTok Shop categories (Supplements, Beauty, Electronics) is the most profitable expansion a merchant can make. However, it requires passing a manual review of laboratory safety data and supply chain lineage.

"Marketplace data from 2026 shows that 74% of initial applications for 'Invite-Only' categories are automatically rejected by AI filters due to improperly structured laboratory certifications (COAs) rather than product safety concerns."

1. Structuring the Certificate of Analysis (COA)

For Health and Beauty categories, a COA is mandatory. TikTok’s review team checks for three technical components: ISO Accreditation of the testing lab, a "Certificate Date" within the last 12 months, and a character-match between the product name on the report and the listing title. Missing any of these triggers an instant, algorithmic rejection.

2. Managing Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)

If your product contains liquids, batteries, or chemicals (e.g., perfume, power banks), an MSDS is required. The document must follow GHS (Globally Harmonized System) standards. We audit your factory documentation to ensure Section 14 (Transport Information) is correctly formatted for TikTok’s hazardous material compliance check.

3. The Brand Authorization Strategy

If you are not the manufacturer, you need a Brand Authorization Letter (BAL). To satisfy the ByteDance legal desk, your BAL must be on the brand owner’s official letterhead, state the duration of authorization, and specifically authorize the sale of products on **TikTok Shop Global Hubs**. Generic Amazon or eBay authorization letters will be rejected.
